This is a cropped image of the engraving I was working on earlier this spring. The photos of the developing plate are back a few months. The edition was not completely printed until July because Magnani, the paper manufacturer, went out of business. But we finally tracked down enough paper to print the edition and APs. I have brought the edition to the US from Venice last week and have delivered the commission. There will be an event to present the print at the end of September, but I felt free to post the image on my livejournal. The technique is burin engraving, with some drypoint and roulette.

Wow, wonderful rendering. I especially love the focus brought to the subject by the "open" surrounding areas of this print.

The print is lovely. Is the Magnani that went out of business the maker of Magnani pescia paper? Say it's not so! That's my favorite paper!

Cartiere Magnani, manufacturer of the lovely Pescia paper, did go out of business. I think they have reorganized. Shipments of the paper have resumed in Italy. I was able to get some for my edition from Daniel Smith in Seattle, which I actually re-imported to Italy in June si we could finish printing the edition. It seems crazy, but I was desperate.
