daily drawing - bread flower

This is not a mis-spelling. When we were in Taormina in March we happened upon the church of San Giuseppe, where a concert was going on. We went in, sat down to listed, and I was stunned to see the high altar decorated with hundreds of bread sculptures. I realized that the feast of San Giuseppe had recently taken place and knew (from Italian-American tradition) that it was common to decorate with bread. After the concert the parishoners took down all the decorations to get ready for Easter week. We talked with the parish priest and members of the altar team. They gave me a bread flower which I carefully carried in my luggage through Sicily and brought back to Venice with only one petal broken and one clove fallen out. I finally got around to drawing it this weekend. This flower is about 6 inches (15 cm) across. I photographed the altar. If anyone is interested I can post that too.
