We came back yesterday afternoon from a trip to visit family and friends in Tuscany. One day we went to a frantoio in the Casentino valley, where olives are pressed for oil. November is the month when this is done, and we enjoyed seeing the farmers coming in with their cars and trucks filled with olives to be pressed. We were so involved in watching the proceedings, eating bread drizzled with just-pressed torbid jade-green oil and discussing our order that I didn't draw there but later we went up to a small castle surrounded by olive trees, so I drew a branch or two. On the facing page is a drawing I had made in Torcello a few days before.
