I happened to be walking past the Frari yesterday around 5 pm and saw the door to the Archivio di Stato open, and it seemed that a free concert was about to start in the cloister. I had been in the cloister only twice before, though I had seen it (and drawn it) from the Sala Capitolare of the monastery and also had seen it from the reading room of the Archivio. The concert was a string/clavicembolo/piano quartet from Germany, and they were excellent. They played 18th century Italian works, and then Stravinsky's Pulchinella suite, based on the foregoing works. I sat to the side, under the cloister arches, and the sound, captured under the cloister vaults, was gorgeous.
