Last night, we were walking through the Campo San Giacometto towards the Ponte del Rialto on our way to see a play at the Teatro Malibran. I observed that the Carnevale lights had not been taken down yet but their unlit forms were nice to see in the dark. Such a lovely play of circles and arches. (Over the past few weeks, they glowed with a blue neon light). Today, after sending a fax from the main post office, I walked through that campo again and stopped to draw.

Thank you very much for writing and exploring my journal. How very interesting to know that you have returned to Iowa after living in Cornwall. What a beautiful place. I did not know of Hemingford Grey. The glass worker you mentioned, Martin, is our neighbor. We lived in London for a year, and our daughter lives in the UK permanently. When I come back to Des Moines later in the spring, we will have to make contact. You can reach me through the gallery.
