This drawing developed over a few days, but on the left page, it is drawn on top of a less-than-satisfactory ink and graphite drawing I made in a chapel at San Giovanni Crisostomo last month. This invented 17th-century Venetian lace has become a way of for me to draw mindlessly (call it doodling), just to keep drawing, while my mind has been occupied with other things. I brought it to a conclusion this afternoon while listening to a broadcast of Der Rosenkavelier.
