We spent the last four days in Florence. This was our first trip down on the new AV (alta velocita') train. Venice to Florence in 2 hours and 3 minutes makes such a difference. We made the trip to deliver belated Christmas gifts to family, but we decided to spend some extra days there on our own. One day was completely devoted to the Uffizi. I spent five hours looking at 1) the Federico Zuccaro drawing exhibition (the artist's vendetta) and 2)paintings - old friends, with a break for lunch in the museum's caffe'. The weather was frigid (fairly deep snow covering the Appenines), so going out on the terrace was not a possibility, but I had an indoor table with a good view. Haven't drawn a view of the Duomo in years.
