I can't remember ever seeing the Accademic di Belle Arti in Florence without a long line, so I was astounded to be able to walk right in on Friday morning around 9,30 am without waiting even ten seconds for a ticket. Admired Michelangelo's David at length since there were only a handful of people there, and also the slaves and Pieta'. I also spent a lot of time looking at paintings, and even the 19th century neoclassical plaster and marble works by Bartolini and others. By the time I came back to the David, there were many more people in the museum. Standing to the side, balancing my heavy winter coat, purse, and tote bag, I drew David in his architectural setting.
