This morning, I spent three hours standing in the same spot making this drawing in the Scrovegni chapel. I don't think I've ever stayed so still on my feet before. I was completely absorbed, mostly unaware of the waves of visitors. Time passed quickly. I've been thinking for quite a while about engraving a large plate of the chapel with Giotto's frescos, and this was a serious start to the project. Most visitors to the Scrovegni Chapel in Padova are allotted only 15 minutes to see one of the humanity's most extraordinary creations. I was fortunate to receive permission for unlimited access to the site.
