Tempus Fugit, relief-printed engraving on ivory Murillo paper with pigeon feather collected at Piazza San Marco, Venice. Sheet size 14 x 11 inches.
Tempus Fugit edition (24 hours)
I was invited to participate in a print portfolio exchange in which 24 artists are participating. We were asked to design a print (and print an edition) on the theme of Tempus Fugit (time flies, or rather, flees), because we all do too much already. Each participant will receive a portfolio of 24 prints. This is my submission. I made a 24-hour clock. Since there are 24 artists and 24 hours in a day, I pointed each feather that I laid on the inked plate towards a different hour. The feather acted as a mask, embossing the paper with its form, but the engraving also printed onto the feather. After the ink dried, I glued the feather to the paper. It became a variant and self-numbering edition. I will be sending my prints to the organizers soon. I have no idea what the others have done yet.
